    Nice.

But the basics still aren’t right. Not in the latest beta, not in 1.2. Cha-Ching *still* (after more than what, 10 months or so??) can’t handle international money formattings (i.e. different decimal and digit group separators). So importing from a .qif file that uses commas to separate the decimals and dots to separate the digit groups, still don’t work. I’ve reported this at least 3 times now, and always got a “we’re working on it” or nothing at all. Yay. I’m sorry, but if I *at least* got a decent answer at some point, I wouldn’t have to post this publicly to warn other European (or international in general for that matter) users.
Get a clear message out, please ;) :)

Left a comment already but it’s disappeared. Just wanted to say thanks for the update. and I’m really glad to see cha-ching is still getting the development it deserves. I use the app on a daily basis to quickly check what money I have available to me. The effort you guys put in is much appreciated!

    Nice!

Hi there. I’m just looking at your product as a great replacement to Quicken. You already score high after being able to import UK QIF files.
But I would like to know if you plan to build in any reporting features? I realise you can do smart folders by tags, but what about the ability to produce a report of monthly spending via tags, showing income vs expense/net worth, or just getting a month on month comparison?

Thanks and keep up the great work.

I have been looking for an alternative to M$ Money when I switched to the Mac. I dismissed Quicken because of the lack of multi-currency support - and even not being able to have base currencies other than USD or CND… Cha-ching seems to fit the bill with at least supporting the local currency, but I look forward to the day of being able to have accounts in different currencies. Maybe in version 2? :-)

It would be helpful to store the amount and currency for the transaction, the amount in the currency for the account (and convert the balance to the base currency for the data file on the fly based on downloaded exchange rates) - So if I have CHF as my base currency for the application, and have a USD account and make a purchase in EUR I can record the purchase amount in EUR, have the amount in the account displayed in USD and have the total in the bottom right hand corner still display CHF (which would fluctuate based on daily exchange rates).

    Keep up the good work!

Thanks for commenting on that Jose, it led me to this site via Google! I have just tried Liquid Ledger and although it has great international currency support (and I mean really really good), it has been a dismal failure at importing QIF files from my bank. So I am looking around for something that actually does the job, but as I’m sure many of you are finding, it’s very hard to find financial packages that handle foreign currencies fully. For example, I have three offshore accounts - Euro, USD and UK Pounds. Money shifts around in them and so I need a package that can be aware that they are different currencies, even if I have to manually specify the exchange rate used for a transfer between those two accounts, for example.

Is there anywhere else on this site I can read up on the currency support for Cha-Ching? I don’t want to go to the trouble of installing something if it’s not going to suit my multi-currency needs :-) (but soooooo tempting based on all your comments about how great the software is…)
