Keep the Faith - Cha-Ching 2.0 Beta

27 Jan 08

Alright, well, maybe from now on we’ll just say ‘when it’s done’.

We were ready to release the first time we mentioned a date, and then anticipated having issues worked out by the end of (last week) and the fix we attempted didn’t work. We are not comfortable with saying ’sometime in the next 3 weeks’ because we were that confident it was going to happen. We were wrong, we admit that, we’re moving on.

We are under no pressure. When we stated the timeframe, that to us what the reality at the time. The bug wasn’t something that we would be comfortable releasing with and then fixing later just to meet a deadline. We felt the obligation and the responsibility to release when this bug was fixed, and not before. We misjudged the severity of the bug and have been working everyday to get it right.

We were more concerned with the negative impression it would have if we released the product as it was, even as a Beta and the bug completely screwed things up for users. We chose the lesser of two evils, continued development and work, and not worry about saving face. If current or potential customers can’t understand or won’t understand our decision was for their benefit, we have no control over that.

All we can continue to do is work very hard, very long and very steadfastly toward a release that will improve the quality of the application, please users and not worry as much about ‘looking good’. We made a mistake, we apologized, we made it again, sucks, but we had to do it, and now we’re moving forward.

MacHeist Serial Issues

27 Jan 08

We are aware there are some users having an issue with registration and we’re doing what we can to get it sorted out. Some of the issue appears to be with users that have extended, non standard accents in their names. THis is confusing things because we can’t tell exactly if it is one issue or two.

Juan and I were at Macworld and working the MacHeist booth. We have a great relationship with them, but it was pretty stressful as the bundle has sold an amazing amount of copies and everyone is scrambling with the amount of support e-mails that have been coming in as a result of having a user base spike up so much.

I can say this: We are close to MacHeist, good friends, and we are all professionals. We will have a list of every person who ordered the bundle through the backend MH database. We will try and get everything sorted out ASAP. As far as 2.0 Beta invitations and upgrade/price concerns, we are still discussing this.

We need to decompress from the whole Macworld/Travel/MacHeist thing but we are all home now and ready to get caught up. All I can say is, we’re apologetic for the delays and appreciate your patience.

We are a very small team, working daily on development and support and it can be a little overwhelming. Please try and limit your e-mails to issues and bugs you encounter and post questions/check here for updates on any registration issues. We are up to 50-75 e-mails a day all asking about registration and we’re trying to get it sorted out.

You WILL get your license, your purchase is important to us, bundle or not, we’re not blowing it off.
