We are working very hard on the next version of Cha-Ching. We know it’s taking so long. Sorry.
We want to make sure that the next version is extremely stable and tested very well.
Because of the long wait, here is a sneak peek of a highly requested feature coming in the next version.
Cool, that looks great!
I have commented here: http://www.chachingapp.com/blog/?p=9
Could someone please contact me at said email address to discuss what I have commented about there?
I would really appreciate it!
Thank you, and I look forward to hearing from you!
Kind Regards,
Brandon Collins
Thanks for the app.
As others have also said, I’ve been using various clumsy ways to handle my money, this app will make things much easier.
It is good for people who can’t justify an accounts package, but have enough ins and outs to get pissed off with speadsheets.
Keep up the good work, Boz
The app looks good! I’m curious as to exactly what level of features Cha-Ching is shooting for. Despite Phill Ryu’s claim as a “Quicken killer,” Cha-Ching seems to be in a different league. What other personal finance apps do you consider to be your competitors? If Cha-Ching’s feature set will rival that of iBank’s, I will probably purchase Cha-Ching.
I LOVE THIS APP!!
But please keep it simple! I habe tried iBank et all, and I don’t need a billion cattegories with stupid ammounts of graphs telling me about taxes and budget plans! I just want to know how much money I have!!
I do have a couple of suggestions however…
One thing i would like to see would be “totals at a glance”. You know how in Mail.app in Tiger, next to each of the mailboxes, you have a rounded square telling you how many unread emails you have… this would be kinda cool next to each of the Drawers. This way you can see how much is in each of your accounts without having to click on each one. I like mails dock icon too..! when it tells me how many unread emails I have. It would be cool if the Cha-ching dock icon had some sort of notification too, perhaps the grand total of the Cabinet.. with the option to turn off some of the drawers from the dock total for things like loans etc!
Another thing I love in Apps of this genre is …… .Mac integration! If you guys could come up with a backup bundle for it, and menu items like “Submit to .Mac” and “Update from .Mac”, I am sure a lot of users will love it. I have more than one mac, and love apps which make it easy for me to keep them all up-to-date!
Anyways, great work! you have my £7.90! Thanks.
Thanks for all the great comments. You have some really good ideas Chris.
MK, you’re on the right track.
Boz, thanks for the nice words.
Matthew! I’m excited to hear that I’m on the right track! I’ve tried Money by Jumsoft, iBank by IGG, Moneydance, and some other things. But none of them feel quite right. iBank is on the top of my list and I would have got that grudgingly in the absence of Cha Ching! I’ll now test Cha Ching more extensively and send some feedback!!
Sweet, exactly what I needed:)
Simple, beautiful.
To make this work better for me, I’d need to be able to pull in data from confirmation emails for online purchases (drag’n'drop). Since I buy in different currencies (USD, Euro, CHF) is there a possibility to normalise this into my reference currency CHF?
Also I have many electronic payments made with direct debit cards. This cash flow presently can not be automated into Cha-Ching.
Is there a way of storing pdfs into each payment item?
The “vault” looks like what I need. I’d like to syncronise the data across two Macs (using Chronosync). Would there be any issues with Cha-Ching?
Hi There!
Downloaded Cha-Ching about a week ago. I needed to update my finances and was dreading having to deal with Quicken so I openened Cha-Ching and was surprised at how easy it was to get up and running. The pictures options is also a nice idea helps you to inventory your stuff… Here is what I would like to see in a later release (1) Ability to password protect the database (looks like this is on the way) 2. Ability to import Qif or CVS files. 3. Some charts ( I like the pig charts someone mentioned earlier) You can also have an animated pig that gets fatter or leaner depending on your balance. 4. Auto-complete function for keywords or ability to reuse a keyword that has already been used when filling ou outgoing or incoming. 5. Ability to duplicate similar transactions say I went to the ATM and draw out $20 on Tuesday, I did the same on Friday. There should be a way to re-use the transaction from Tuesday and change the date and such. That’s all I can think of at the moment.
Thanks for all the hard work…
We are very, very interested in all your feedback. Keep it coming. We’ll be posting some new information very soon.
Ok. Just purchased as I said I would in the last email I sent out.
Here’s a few more features I would like.
When creating a pending transaction, I’d like to be able to set an account it comes out of and an account it goes into.
For example. I have a direct deposit from work that is always $50 from work every week. I want to setup a pending payment that goes into one of my drawers. So then every week, I can just hit “Paid” and bam, it goes into the proper account rather than the cabinet.
I realize you’re not doing the whole double accounting stuff, but I’d like to be able to handle transfers from one drawer to another. I tend to have all my paychecks goto my savings.. I then transfer them to my checking in lumps for all my bills that month. So I’d like to be able to create one transfer that does both the credit and debit from each account.
This is likely out of your scope, but credit cards would be sweet too. The ability to setup the interest rate, the due date, and have the sucker just go through and calculate my interest paid and subtract it from my payment. Same for loans if at all possible…
The ability to sort by date, name, etc from the default view in he Transaction area. Currently if I want to reorganize I have to switch to the list view to do it. Not ideal.
The ability to reorganize the Vault. I have three accounts setup at one bank, and two at another… the two from one bank are smack dab in the middle of the three from the other… sort by name, balance, etc. Or even better.. the ability to group by bank.
Listing the balance in the Vault next to each drawer would be sweet.
Listing the number of pending transactions in the given month.
Auto-complete for past transactions… I have some places I buy food at regularly, typing the name in by the first couple letters and letting Cha-Ching finish save me time.
The ability to hide the photos… I don’t have an iSight so it’s taking up space in my transaction view… if there isn’t one, don’t display, if there is one, display it. Just seems to make more sense. I’m not going to take photos of bill payments or food or paychecks that are direct deposited.
Smart Drawers listing the total balance for all transactions would be cool… I can then create graphs from those automatically. Say I spend $x on food or music cds each month. The ability to graph a few items would be cool.
I’m sure I’ll think of more. Until then I can’t wait to see the next version.
Ah knew I should’ve waited on posting that… a few more.
1. Check numbers
2. Think of it as a “bill board.” Sometimes I have a few short term bills like Tuition or I owe someone a few bucks for something. I’d like to be able to just post the bill on the bill board with a due date (option), who it’s too, what it’s for, etc. But it won’t always be good for pending transactions. So a little section that let’s me organize these would totally kick some serious butt.
I would like to shamelessly freeride and echo UnLogikal’s feedback!
One question about the screen shot above…
Does locking the database actually encrypt it or does it just stop people from seeing what is on screen in the application?
Preferably I’d rather it encrypt everything.
UnLogikal: Currently, locking the database stop unauthorized users from accessing the application.
